WARWICK – UWUA Local 310 is the 19th labor organization to endorse Gina Raimondo for governor this year. Representing around 500 Rhode Island utility workers, they are backing Gina as a governor who will be on the side of working families.
“Gina gets the importance of a good job for a family and we’re proud to be backing her for governor,” said President Phil Fogarty. “Gina will be a governor who focuses on rebuilding our state’s middle class. There are clear contrasts between Gina and her Republican opponent; he supports making Rhode Island a so-called right-to-work state undermining unions’ ability to stand up for their workers and opposes raising the minimum wage. These positions are bad for Rhode Island families. Gina knows how to create good jobs and she’ll stand up for us.”
“I appreciate the support of the men and women of UWUA. I’m running for governor because we need to get Rhode Islanders back to work,” said Gina. “We have the third highest unemployment rate in the country and families are struggling. I will be a governor who invests in rebuilding our roads, bridges and schools and implements a long-term strategy to build on areas where we can be strong: marine science, industrial design, medical devices and green technology. That’s how we will turn our economy around."
