UFCW Endorses Gina Raimondo For Governor

Becomes the 12th labor organization to back her for governor
PROVIDENCE – The United Food and Commercial Workers Local 328 has joined 10 other unions and the Building and Construction Trades Council in endorsing Gina Raimondo for governor. Representing about 14,000 workers in Southern New England, UFCW is backing Gina as the clear choice for middle-class families.
“Gina will be a governor who stands up for the middle class and gets people back to work,” said David Fleming, President of the United Food and Commercial Workers – Local 328. “Gina understands that we need to be investing in education, job training and rebuilding our infrastructure. And she gets how important access to quality health care and good schools are for Rhode Island families. She’ll be a governor on our side.”
“My grandpa helped found the meat cutters' union that became UFCW and my dad and uncles were members as well so this endorsement is especially meaningful to me,” said Gina. "I’m honored to have the trust of the men and women of UFCW to create good jobs and bring down Rhode Island’s unemployment rate. I saw the importance of a good job in my own family and I’m running for governor to rebuild Rhode Island’s middle class.”
